Henry R. Haggard is Acting Consul to the American Presence Post in Busan from 11 August 2008 – 22 August 2008.
Born in Maine, Henry went to high school in New Hampshire and attended Brown University in Rhode Island. After school, he worked one year in Paris before spending one year in Jinju as an English teacher at a private language institute. The year in Korea convinced Henry that Korea was the place for him and on entering the State Department in 1999, headed to Seoul in 2000 as a vice consul. From 2002-2005, Henry worked in the Secretary of State’s office, one year in the Operations Center and two years as a part of the Secretary’s advance team.
In 2005, Henry returned to Korea and after one year of additional language study that included auditing graduate courses at Yonsei, Sogang and Ewha Universities, began work in 2006 as First Secretary and Chief of the Domestic Politics Unit in the Political Section.
He is glad to have the opportunity to come to Busan for a short time and help build better ties between the people of Busan and the United States.
